At Amaro Camatti we do our best to keep a traditional manufacturing process. Once the key ingredients have been carefully selected, they are infused and macerated. Such process was developed according to the characteristics of the herbs and plants used, as well as to the final product we aim at obtaining. The infusion is then decanted in barrels or stainless steel kegs, and strained in order to remove any impurities. A water and sugar syrup is then added, and Amaro Camatti is ready to be bottled end enjoyed. ready for the final consumer, all that remains is to bottle it.

It was named after Ana de Osorio countess of Chinchón who, according to the legend, personally tested its many beneficial virtues. As of 2020, Amaro Camatti adopted a brand new bottle. A change that nods to tradition while featuring a tribute to our beloved hometown, Genova, and to 1924, the year the original recipe was first created by Umberto Briganti.
Brand-owner Sangallo Distilleria delle Cinque Terre is a traditional family-run business founded in 1964 in the small town of San Salvatore di Cogorno, but currently based in San Colombano Certenoli, in the province of Genoa.
It produces Ligurian and Piedmont style liqueurs and grappas following their old recipes. They range from licorice and basil to cream and fruit liqueurs – each flavour is a new experience. Each and every product is manufactured according to a traditional method, from the infusion and distillation of herbs and natural essences which preserve the beneficial properties of the plants they are produced with, as well as their flavour and taste.
A family secret for many generations, the recipes followed to produce liqueurs and grappas are the result of a passionate and careful search for the perfect ingredients.
